  • Does it hurt?

I use a very powerful topical anesthetic to help with the pain. It is a topical, though, and can not take away the pressure and the vibration that is caused by the machine. Most of my clients are very comfortable with the topical, and I will do everything in my power to make sure that the client is not in pain.

For the lips, I can use a local anesthetic by giving dental injections. This is a profound numbing where the client does not feel anything. Most clients choose this for the lip procedure, because the lips are such a sensative area and are hard to numb with only a topical.

  • How long does it take?

Each procedure takes about 2 hours. However, this depends on how long the consultation part lasts, including the drawing of the lines and choosing of colors, lasts. It also depends on how well the pigment is taken by the skin. It can take anywhere from 1-3 hours.

  • How long does the redness last?

Eyebrow redness lasts about 2 days.
Eyeliner redness lasts about 3-4 days.
It all depends on how fast your body normally heals. Some people bounce right back and some can take up to a week.

  • How long does it take to heal?

The healing is a peeling process.
The brows will peel within 6-8 days.
The eyeliner will peel in 5-7 days. The lips will peel in 4-6 days.
Overall, the healing including swelling, redness and peeling will take about a week.

  • Does the color fade over time?

YES!!! This is a tattoo, and all tattoos fade over time; however, permanent cosmetics are not administered the same as other types of tattoos. A different machine is used for permanent cosmetics that does not distribute the pigment to the same level that a tattoo machine does.
If the permanent cosmetics are well taken care of, they should last about 5 years. Everyone is different, though, and I always suggest that the moment you notice the tattoo starting to fade to an undesirable color, call for an appointment, and we will do a touch-up procedure, which is easier to do while the line of the original procedure is still clear. If done in a reasonable time frame, a touch-up will not be charged the full price.

  • How is the color chosen?

For the lips, the client will usually bring in colors of lip sticks that they like. Together, we choose a color that will complement the skin tone of the client and is in the same family of colors that the client likes.
Nothing will be done until the client is happy with the color.
The brows are done in a similar manner. A color has to be chosen that will complement the skin tone, not necessarily one that matches their hair color.
Eyeliner is black or brown, usually. Although, I have the ability to do a smoky gray or a navy blue, also.

  • How much does it cost?
    • $300--eyebrows
    • $300--eyeliner (top and bottom)
    • $250--eyeliner (top only)
    • $300--lips
    • $200--lip liner only
    • $50--nitrous oxide(laughing gas)
    • $50--local anesthetic for lip procedure (dental injections used for profound numbness of lips--this is the preferred method)
  • Do I have to have a Consultation then an Appointment for the procedure?

I offer a free consultation in which I will evaluate your needs. I draw on the client with eye, lip and/or brow pencils to give an idea of what the results will look like when the permanent cosmetics are completed. This need not be a separate appointment. If the client knows what she wants to have done, the consultation is done at the beginning of the appointment for the actual procedure.
