William meets a stranger at one of his mother's card parties. The echoes of that meeting haunt him, until insane, alone in the basement of Sunnydale High School, he has to find the strength to face the author of his nightmares.
(In this story, Angel and Wesley are estranged due to events surrounding Darla's return, but Connor does not exist.)
